2016 NORAMs: Planning is underway

Chelsea Nordiq is calling on all ski-race enthusiasts aged 10-13 in the Track-Attack (Pee Wee and Midget), Biathlon Bears and Adventure-Rabbits programs to participate in the 2016 NORAMs from Friday, Feb 12 to Monday, February 15, 2016.

Athletes will participate in an exciting race weekend in Joliette, Quebec enjoying the following activities:

Friday – Travel day, Course Practice, and Pizza Dinner

Saturday – Skate Race, Skating on the River, and Spaghetti Dinner

Sunday – Classic Race and Evening Banquet with Dance

Monday – Relay Race, Tubing in St-Jean de Matha and travel back to Chelsea.

 
CONFIRMATION DATES: If your athlete is interested, please let us know between December 9, 2015 – December 31, 2015.
To do so please go to the following ZONE 4 link: https://zone4.ca/reg.asp?id=10801 and fill in the requested info.  Please note that skiers will be confirmed on a first to register basis and that registration will close on December 31, 2015.  Once we have an idea on numbers we will be making a call out to confirmed participants for payment of lodging, transportation and participation fees and providing further information on race registration.
ANTICIPATED COSTS: More information to follow once sign-up is complete and we have a better idea of numbers, but the anticipated costs of this event are $300 per athlete, broken down as follows:
-Lodging, transportation, coach registration fees, waxing, tubing and food — approximately $150 – this payment will likely be due by January 15, 2016*.  (*A reminder registration/payment email will be sent closer to the date.  In the coming weeks, your coaches will also be letting you know about the costume relay race that will be held on the Mondayof NORAMs.)
-Race registration fees (3 race days @ $50 per race) — approximately $150 – this payment will likely be due by January 29, 2016*.  (*A reminder registration/payment email will be sent closer to the date.)
LODGING:  Your athlete will be over-nighting in the High School in Joliette (with chaperone supervision).  Athletes will need a sleeping mat/thermarest, sleeping bag and other related overnight items.  More details to follow.
TRANSPORTATION:  Depending on numbers we will be renting a bus or car-pooling.  (Our preferred method is to rent a bus).
EQUIPMENT:  Your athlete will be required to bring skates and xc equipment.  A more detailed list will follow closer to the event.
FUN FACTOR:  Chelsea skiers love this race and this weekend.  Ski races, dancing, skating, tubing, pizza, a banquet, no parents, and lots of fun!  What more can we say!
